Dear all, this is the last part of the 3-series article. For those who have not yet read part one, find it here. Part 2 is available on this link.
Following the accident, Shiks was badly hit on the head and was unconscious by the time good samaritans rushed her to hospital. She was in very bad shape. Some medics at the hospital commented that she would not survive for another 48 hours. Somehow, among her documents, the good samaritans managed to find her father’s number and contacted him. He got to the hospital a few minutes after Shiks had been taken in.
Shiks was given the necessary first aid and the doctors really worked hard to stabilize her. After about 6 hours, her father had her transferred to Dr. Vishram’s hospital after some processes. Dr. Vishram’s hospital was a high end private facility. She was admitted at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
Shiks spend a whole four months in the ICU before she finally opened her eyes. Her father had put a halt on all his other businesses. He was concentrating on Shiks. He camped at the hospital day and night at times forcing the security team to intervene in trying to have him get a rest. For the four months, he prayed for her.
When she finally woke up, she was frail with alot of tubes on her body. Her lips were dry and cracked. She was thirsty. The first words that she pronounced were, ‘I need some water.’ The nurse came in, recorded her temperature before calling Dr. Vishram who came in with a smile on his face. He called his father who was asleep on one of the hospital benches.
When Shiks saw her father come in, she started crying. ‘Am sorry Daddy. Am sorry.’ she said amidst sobs. ‘Shhhhhh.’ Her father responded putting his right index finger on her lips. By this time, he already knew that she was expectant but he just wanted her to recover. She was moved from the ICU to the general ward where she spend a further three weeks.
It was within these three weeks that she texted Desmond to confront her. She informed him that she was carrying his baby to which he told her that it was impossible. Desmond told her to look for the real father and even wished her a good life as a parent. She decided not to bother him further as he had now revealed his true colors. In the last week, the police visited her to record a statement with regards to the accident.
Two weeks after her discharge from hospital, came the moment she dreaded. She and her father had a three hour talk. Her father told her what he had found out. Shiks on the other hand confessed everything. They talked and had an understanding. They embraced each other.
Shiks deferred her studies for a whole calendar year. A few months later, she gave birth to a bouncing baby boy whom she named after her father. Her father employed a nanny to help with the raising of the child. He embraced and treated the child as his own.
Seven months after giving birth, she went back to school. This time, she was focused and determined. Despite having an additional responsibility of taking care of her child, she would emerge the best in almost all her units.
By the time she was done with college, her son was almost 5 years old. Shiks graduated albeit way behind her friends. This did not worry her even for a single second. On her graduation day, she and her father shed tears of joy. Truly, she had quite a story to tell. She, her father and her son took alot of photos. It was one of the happiest days of her life.
